Acca Mra Agreement

The agreement applies to members of both institutions, regardless of where they are in the world, with the exception of the province of Quebec. ACCA members residing in Canada must apply through the provincial association in which they reside. With the exception of CPA Bermuda, which did not have an older CGA body, and CPA Quebec, which announced the termination of the ACCA on October 17, 2012, the new CPA bodies continued to join the agreement. On April 8, 2020, CPA Canada submitted a notice to the ACCA for the MRA to terminate the MRA effective April 30, 2021. After CPA Canada denounces the agreement, we are in the process of negotiating a new agreement that will determine how the respective professionals can obtain the designation of the other. During these negotiations, the terms of the previous Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) for one year`s notice, until 30 April 2021, are respected and applications for membership of the EMM must be reached by the competent authority before that date. An additional 12 months will be made available to process closed applications. Members of the two institutions that apply under this agreement should also remain members of their original designation. NOTE: Due to the termination of the contract and the expected volume of applications, we advise you to begin the MRA admission process as soon as possible. Processing times may vary depending on the volume. In order to enable negotiations, national bodies representing the relevant professions have agreed to withdraw from their existing Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA). Any new agreement will facilitate continued access to the profession while ensuring that the public interest is protected by maintaining entry standards in each profession at the appropriate level. The ACCA and the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada (CGA-Canada) have entered into a Comprehensive Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA). Initially signed in 2006, the contract was renewed in July 2011. In 2012, CGA Canada was part of CPA Canada. The MRA remains in effect in all provinces except Quebec.

CGA Provincial Bodies and CGA Canada signed the Existing Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in 2011.
